Hatch End High School Crest

Crest courtesy of Richard Franklin

Over the years, many people have asked what the symbols displayed on our school badge represent, so for those of you interested they are as follows:

Torch:  torch of knowledge or learning.

Gate:  in olde English, 'Hatch' means entrance or gate.

Trees:  these are the Cedar trees of the Blackwell estate.  The school stands on what was formerly the grounds of this estate.

Mitre:  originally all the land, including the old Blackwell estate, belonged to the church - indicated by the Bishop’s mitre.

Crown:  denotes the links with royalty.  Pinner Park was a royal hunting ground.
