Lanie's Heating-Oil Purchasing Group
Updated November ’13
This domestic oil-buying consortium was established in July 2005 by Lanie Allen.
It began in the village of Hamstead Marshall (three miles west of Newbury).
The consortium has grown over the intervening years through publicity
in parish magazines, local events and through word-of-mouth.
An article in the local newspaper about oil supplies during the heavy snow-fall of 2010, gave oil
consortia unexpected publicity and they received many more enquiries about membership.
Lanie's group now has a membership of nearly 700 households including those from surrounding villages and a bit further afield.
Oil consortia help members keep their oil costs down and the co-ordination of orders
and deliveries also reduces the number of tanker journeys though rural villages.
